“Project Helix” is the label that Microsoft has given its attempt to fully integrate Windows 10 and Xbox One. Unnamed sources have revealed to Kotaku that the PC platform will be receiving future Xbox One video games. This may be the end of Xbox One exclusive releases. According to reports made on Kotaku, Microsoft has made it a mandate to release future video games on both Xbox One and on PC. This includes flagship franchises such as Halo.
There are already a number of video games announced for both the Xbox One and Windows 10 platforms such as Halo Wars 2, Sea of Thieves, and Gears of War 4. What we don’t know is if we will see previous Xbox One exclusives make their way onto the Windows 10 platform. For PC Gamers, now you will money have to purchase PC versions of games and save a lot of money in the process.
This will most likely affect Sony negatively. Microsoft will now start leveraging its own app store for game sales while Sony has to still use a third party like steam. With E3 coming up, who knows what Microsoft will announce. Apparently there are even rumors of an Xbox Two! Stay Tuned!
